Frequently Asked Questions
What is polymer clay?
Polymer clay is a versatile, synthetic modeling material composed of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), plasticizers, and pigments (for color). Once baked and cured, polymer clay becomes a durable and lightweight material suitable for jewelry and crafts. Our polymer clay jewelry is often painted, and mixed with gold flecks, and other materials.
Is polymer clay toxic?
Although polymer clay is synthetically made of PVC base, it is not toxic to your hands or earlobes. If worried, consider wearing it for a few minutes before extended wear.
I have sensitive ears. What metals do you use?
All earrings are hypoallergenic.
- All stud posts are stainless steel.
- Fish hooks are stainless steel unless specified in the listing. Some hooks are sterling silver or have gold plating.
- Fish hooks only: Contact Us if you'd like to swap the hardware for a different metal.
Can polymer clay earrings get wet?
Our polymer clay earrings are properly baked and cured, therefore, they’re water resistant. However, it’s advisable to avoid prolonged exposure to water to protect the metal and posts from tarnishing.
Remove your jewelry before swimming, showering, bathing, or participating in water activities. Water can weaken the glue adhesive and can break. If wet, wipe with a damp cloth for cleaning.
Are polymer clay earrings heavy?
No! Polymer clay earrings are generally lightweight, and they will not weigh your earlobes down, making them comfortable for extended wear. Polymer clay earrings generally weigh less than a quarter (or 2oz). Clay earrings are lighter than metal or ceramic alternatives. Please note, that earrings with metal accents will may be slightly heavier.
Are polymer clay earrings durable?
Yes! Polymer clay earrings are durable and resilient. They will have a slight bend and can flex (but not too much or they will snap). Clay jewelry can withstand wear and handling. With proper care, your clay earrings can maintain their beauty and shape over time.
My polymer clay earrings broke! What do I do?
Please refer to our Refund Policy.
- If the clay snaps, you can use a strong super glue or a glue alternative to reattach the pieces.
- If your earring post breaks off, reattach them with a strong super glue or glue alternative.
Will polymer clay earrings shrink, expand, or fade over time?
Your polymer clay earrings will not shrink or expand. All clay jewelry is safely baked and cured for the best quality. However, extended exposure to direct sunlight or heat may cause fading damage. Please store your polymer clay jewelry in a cool, dry place.
